Why Nirma University?

It is one of India’s leading universities placed in Ahmedabad (Gujarat). It was authorized in the year 2003 as a Statutory University down a main act passed by the Gujarat State Legislative Assembly. It is admit by the (UGC) under Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act. The Campus is duly recognized by National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Also it is a member of Association of Indian Universities and the Association of Commonwealth Universities.  


Library of this campus is cleaned and fully A/c and there are all books for students related to their education. There are seven Institutes namely, Institute of Pharmacy, Institute of Law, Institute of  Science, Institute of Architecture, Planning and Institute of Commerce & Department of Design offering Under Graduate, Institute of Technology, Institute of Management, Post Graduate, managerial Diploma course and Doctoral Studies in various arms of human learning. Each convention has a full-fledged Library Resource Centre.

Library Services

Nirma University Libraries with an goal to provide simple access to the correct information at the correct time to all its customers provide a package of high quality, customer aimed services to support the teaching & learning; development and research activities of faculty, candidates, and all staff members. It also offer main services like circulation, reference service, referral service, Inter library loan facility, photocopy service, library membership, reading facility, and book-bank service. We will also distribute many value-added services like, current awareness services, Selective Dissemination of Information, remote log-in facility, computerized information search, and handle few customers study programmes.

Nirma University Ph.D. Admission

In the year 2003 Nirma University started Doctoral Programmes. The Announcement in the Newspapers/Website is also published about admissions in various Ph.D. programmes which are scheduled annually. University offers Full-time and Part-Time Ph.D. programmes. The Ph.D. Programmes in the University are offered by the Faculty of Management, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Technology & Engineering and Faculty of Architecture.

Attendance Requirement

  • A research scholar is expected to have full (100%) attendance in each course who is pursuing course-work as a part of his Ph. D. Programme. By the Dean, Faculty of Doctoral Studies & Research for genuine reasons a maximum of 30% attendance may be condoned.


Candidate shall have a Master's degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree.

Entrance Test

  • Qualifying marks for Entrance Test are 50%. The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall be 50% of subject-specific 50% of research methodology. 
  • Candidates shall be exempted from appearing in the entrance test who have passed M.Phil programme and candidates who qualify the UGC-NET (Including JRF) UGC-CSIR NET (Including JRF) SLET/ GATE/GPAT.


  • For the proposed research the candidate possesses the competence.
  • At the Institution the research work can be suitably undertaken.
  • On the merit of interview/viva-voce, final merit shall be based.

Nirma University

Nirma University (NU) is a private university situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It functions under the aegis of the Nirma Education and Research Foundation that is NERF. The Gujarat Government has granted the"Centre of Excellence" status to Nirma University.

Nirma University Ph.D. course Admission

Nirma University offers full-time as well as part-time Ph.D. study programs in the streams of Engineering, Management, Science, Law, Pharmacy and Architecture. Admission is done on the basis of an entrance exam followed by an interview round.

UGC-NET (Including JRF) UGC-CSIR NET (Including JRF) SLET / GATE / GPAT passed aspirants can also apply for admission. Teacher fellowship holders or those who have passed the M.Phil study program will be exempted from appearing in the entrance exam and deemed to be qualified for a personal interview.

Ph.D. The entrance Test will consist 50% of questions from Research Methodology and 50% from subject-specific Knowledge. Students have to secure at least 50% marks in the entrance test.
