Nair Hospital Dental College is one of the oldest institutes in the country with a glorious history dating back to 1933 during the British era. The untiring efforts of late founder and Ex- Dean Dr. V.M. Desai gave rise to a dental college that now stands at par with best colleges both nationally and internationally. The institution made a humble beginning in a stable in 1927 at Topiwala National Medical College with only a single chair. In 1934. it succeeded into establishing three departments: Operative Department, Prosthetic Department and Exodontia Department with an increase in number of chairs and separate laboratories. The syllabus was initially based on American and German standards and the diploma of LDSc of one year. which was not only recognised by Government of India but also by foreign universities.
In the year 1946, Municipal Corporation took over all the three medical institutions under whose wings the institution flourished. In 1951, a separate 5 storied building was constructed and included 76 dental chairs, well- equipped laboratories and X-ray machines. In 1954. the college was affiliated to the Bombay University of courses pertaining to BDS.In 1957, Dr. H.D. Merchant took over as the dean and with him ushered a new era in the history of Nair Dental College, making it the first dental institute offering post graduate courses in Orthodontia, Operative Dentistry, Prosthodontia and Oral Surgery. A new eight storeyed building was constructed opposite Maratha Mandir and the college shifted to its present site in 1971. Also, the building got an extension in 1980. In 1983, a new budding department came to the fore in the name of Community Dentistry. Later. in 1998, the college got affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences.

This is a medical college, you don't get companies here, but yes, you can get employed directly after your Mbbs In your college itself and can get a hefty salary of Rs. 75,000 working as a casualty medical officer. Other options include working as a house officer in the department of your choice with a reduced salary of 45,000.
College provide us internship in our college only.we are govt.college so we don't need to go at other place to learn There are enough opportunity in our college only and more the no. Of patients in OPD more we learn.We get stipend of ?6000/- which is very very less against the work we do.Interns are the spinal cord of government hospital.The work they do is unappreciated but most important.Sometimes we do 24 hr duty back to back without sleep.
It depends on our performance in NEET PG exam. So basically it depends on us which seat we would get for further studies in PG. So cannoy say much about company visit and all. Why you have made 200 compulsory characters for this question, I dont have any answer to it and so I need to write this thing.
There is no such thing as placements in medical field. You have to give a pg exam after ug course and accordingly you are alloted a college and field for pg. Internship stipend is low and 1 year service in the rural areas is compulsory. The stipend in internship for our college is very low.
