Why Vidyodaya Law College?

Tumkur District has its own unique feature for being called an education centre. It provides students all courses of education to choose from. This education centre has reached its zenith only when Vidyodaya Law College was established under Vidyodaya Education Society with the sole motto of providing legal education to the students of southern zone of Karnataka in particular and the neighboring states in general, under the “Society Registration Act 1860”, in the year 1958-59. It is the first college in Karnataka that was founded in the midst of the head quarter and it was affiliated to the Mysore University in 1958-59.Since from 1958 the fragrance of legal education spread by the institution from rural to urban level irrespective of class and creed of the society.During its affiliation to the Mysore University, there was two years course in existence and the admission was restricted to the graduates under the “Bachelors Degree in Law (B.L). Later it was converted in to the 3 Years course LL.B., as per the rules of the Bar Council of India. The same course is being continued even today. The Vidyodaya Education Society got its own campus in the year 1979 with the help of the well known personalities. From 1958-59 to 1993-94, Vidyodaya Law College successfully ran under the supervision and guidance of Vidyodaya Education Society. Later Vidyodaya Education Society has taken a new and innovative shape in the form of VIDYODAYA FOUNDATION (R.) TRUST.VIDYODAYA FOUNDATION (R.) TRUST was established in the year 1994. Under the guidance of trust, the first floor and the second floor of the building with all infrastructures needed for a Law college was constructed in the heart of the town, in the year 1995 and 2002 respectively. The college has a very wide, spacious and computerized library, good infrastructure and internet with website facilities.In the year 1974, the Vidyodaya Law College had come under the jurisdiction of the Bangalore University and worked successfully by adhering to the norms of Bangalore University up to 2005. The Vidyodaya Law College also worked under the jurisdiction of the Tumkur University from 2005-2009.

Computer Laboratory

Considering today's need for computerization, our College is proud to have all the infrastructure facilities in certain faculties such as Commerce, Geography and Mathematics. These departments have their own computer laboratories with modern equipment and necessary software (Microsoft Office, Mathematica, Matlab, Latex, C++ software, etc.) to meet the needs of students. In addition, the library also has an e-resource center, which provides access to e-resources among other things.

Library

Shahid Bhagat Singh College has a fully computerized barcode library. The library has a computer lending system with barcodes. We have two computers dedicated to OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) book searches. This collection is enriched by his over 86,796 books on various research fields. The library also subscribes to over 100 of his periodicals in various fields (national and international, specifically Harvard Business Review, The Economist, etc.). The library also has a small computer lab for accessing electronic resources subscribed to by the College of Delhi through the College's intranet and the Internet. The Library also holds orientation programs from time to time and provides orientation in electronic resources for accessing bibliographic databases and full-text databases available through the College's intranet and the INFLIBNET Consortium and Information Literacy Program. Students are encouraged to inquire about various library services with Dr. Puja Anand Gulati, Librarian.

Canteen

The College campus has a spacious and well-ventilated canteen building with ample seating, separate from the academic blocks. We provide students and faculty with a variety of snacks, food, tea, coffee, and other beverages at low prices. The canteen committee monitors food quality, care and hygiene. A proposal to renovate the cafeteria was recently approved by the Building Committee and Board of Directors.

Seminar Rooms

The College has two seminar rooms equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. The College organizes seminars, workshops and lectures with the active participation of students and teachers. Prominent scientists and experts from academic and business organizations are invited to interact with students and give lectures.
