Ph.D. Media Studies is three year doctoral level course. The course provide helps candidates to know how to use techniques and concepts from disciplines like politics, anthropology, sociology, philosophy, economics, and psychology. The program centered on specialized skills like efficient writing and teaching practice to the candidates. During the study time candidates learn editing techniques in particular areas of mass media and production process. The degree course introduce to candidates about social impacts, history of mass media, analytical approach to the development of mass media, and understanding the communications approach. Extensive areas like cultural relations, economic, and social relations of modern life covers in this program. Ph.D. Media Studies course also involves digitation of information, conditions of globalization, the environment of media production, consumption, and dissemination.
Ph.D. Media Studies Admission Process:
Admission to the Ph.D. program shall be based on the students marks obtained in the entrance test conducted by the respective department or school of the particular university or institute. Those candidates who have complete GATE/NET/SET/ M.Phil/JRF Examination in the pertinent subject of the apex bodies as CSIR/UGC/ICAR/ICMR/DBT will be exempted from the Entrance Test. While giving the exemption, the Departmental Committee of the institute may consider research work/earlier Ph.D./experience done by the student. If a student already holds a Doctors degree in a relevant subject from a UGC Approved University or Institute, he/she may be exempted from entrance exam and pre Ph.D. coursework. After clearing the both steps the student will be eligible to pay course fee or registration fee. Only the predetermined number of candidates may be admitted to Ph.D. programme.
