Rama co-founder of JHM Hotels founded the university which split between into four companies from 2017: Sima Hotels, Siddhi Hotel Group, Auro Hotels, and Sarona Holdings. About Auro University
The Auro University was founded 25th of October 2011, by the Rama Family, is inspired by the vision and teachings of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh and The Mother. Auro University is located in Surat City of southern Gujarat. The university provides numerous UG and Postgraduate Executive programs in Management, Law, Design, Arts, and Mass Communication such as BBA, Bachelor of Journalism & Mass Communication, MBA, LLM, etc. The University itself conducts entrance exams for all regular courses and also accepts National level entrance exams like CAT,lottery sambad All India Management Association, Under Graduate Aptitude Test. Auro University Ph.D. Program :
Auro University also offers a full-time Ph.D. program to eligible candidates. Candidates holding a Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree with at least 55% (50% for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes.– non-creamy layer, Differently Abled, and others) are eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program. Doctor of Philosophy is a doctoral degree program with a minimum duration of 3 years.

The university offers both need-based financial assistance and merit scholarships to eligible candidates. Undergraduate students who have secured a minimum of 70% marks in their qualifying exams and belong to financially challenged backgrounds having gross family income less than INR 3 lacs per annum are eligible to apply for need-based financial aid. Both Undergraduate and postgraduate candidates satisfying eligibility criteria can apply for Auro merit scholarships.
