Why Indian Institute of Architects?

The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) is the national assortment of Architects in India with in excess of 20,000 individuals. It was set up in 1917 with its home office in Mumbai. It is related with the International Union of Architects (UIA) Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) and South Asian Association for Regional Co-activity of Architects (SAARCH). 

Its present President for the year 2015-2017 is, Ar.Divya Kush (Ar. Prakash Deshmukh is Imm Past President) and Vice President is Ar. Vilas Avachat. On May 12, 1917, George Wittet, by then Consulting Architect to the Government of Bombay, was consistently chosen as the main President of The Indian Institute of Architects, an affiliation made of the past understudies of Architecture of Sir J.J. School of Art, at that point known as "The Architectural Students Association". On 3 August 1922, it was rechristened 'Bombay Architectural Association', which got related with the Royal Institute of British Architects in 1925, and in 1926 turned into a National body under another name, 'Indian Institute of Architects' on 2 September 1929, enlisted under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 as a willful association of Architects. The main other association at the national level is the Council of Architecture built up under the Architects Act 1972 with the statutory obligation of Registration. 

The Northern Chapter of the Institute was begun in 1956. Today it has Chapters in various states and further focuses in real urban areas, inside those states.
