Centre for Environment Education (CEE) was built up in 1984 as a Center of Excellence of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. As a national organization, CEE's order is to advance ecological mindfulness across the country. 

CEE creates inventive projects and instructive material and constructs limit in the field of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). It is resolved to guarantee that Environmental Education (EE) prompts activity for practical improvement. It embraces field extends that exhibit and approve the job training can play in manageable advancement. CEE works with nearby, state, national and universal offices, associations and governments in India and in different nations to help make a practical future. CEE works intimately with Forest Departments and others in making translation projects and offices. With a broad system of more than 2 Lakh Colleges it embraces many College programs in association with various organizations.

CEE is the Regional Coordinator for a few local activities like South Asia Youth Environment Network (SAYEN), and has worked with most nations in South and South East Asia on ESD.
