* JNU offers the Ph.D. course in African Studies(AFSP), Ancient History(ANCP), Arabic(ARBP), Canadian Studies(CANP), Cheese Studies(CHIP), Cheese(CHNP), Cinema Studies(CNSP), Comparative Politics And Political Theory(CPTP), etc.
* Ph.D. at JNU is for a duration of a maximum of 4 years. It could be either full-time or part-time.
* Students who have cleared the M.Phil. Siri course work with at least 55% of aggregate marks is eligible to apply for admission.

JNU Ph.D. Minimum Eligibility Criteria
Students need to fulfill the following minimum eligibility criteria for admission to Ph.D. at JNU.
* Students who have cleared the M.Phil. study course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale or any equivalent grade scale
* A relaxation of the 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of the grade, maybe allowed for those candidates who belong to the SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/differently-abled and the other categories of students
* An individual whose M.Phil. dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending may be admitted to the Ph.D. study program of the same Institution
* Students possessing a Degree considered equivalent to the M.Phil. Degree shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. study program.
JNU Ph.D. Selection Criteria
* Selection of the students for the Ph.D. courses will be done on the basis of their performance in the entrance exams and viva-voice, both conducted by the university.
* The students are invited for the CBT exam and the aspirants qualifying in the CBT exam shall be called for the viva voice Exam. Scoring Minimum 50% of marks are qualifying for the students belonging to General Category and EWS category whereas 45% of marks are qualifying for the students belonging to SC, ST, OBC, PWD categories.

* Two self-attested Photocopies of the Matriculation, Higher Secondary Pre-University of Indian School Certificate or the Senior School Certificate (10+2) or an equivalent examination certificate, showing the age/date of birth of the aspirant
