The Tikrikilla College, established in 1986 in the premises of the Tikrikilla Higher Secondary School was shifted to its permanent site on a hillock, approximately 2.5 km away from the heart of the growing town of Tikrikilla in the year 1992. It is a co-educational Arts college with Higher Secondary segment attached to it and enjoys student strength of anything in between 800 to 1100. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya Shree P.A. Sangma laid down the foundation stone of the new building of the college at its permanent site and the then Hon’ble Chief Minister Shree S.C. Marak inaugurated the same in the year 1994. The ingrained impetus of education in the minds of education lovers of Tikrikilla and its surrounding area gave birth to this college.Tikrikilla is an economically backward region and interior too. Therefore, the vision and mission of the college is not only to extend educational help to the poor students but also to bring about their all round development besides helping them to inculcate in them socio-ethical values to steer the society with a proper value oriented direction. In the rapid changing world of science and technology, the ubiquitous need of the socio-ethical values can never be denied. The whole gamut of education ought to be amalgamated as well as blended with values of which ethical values are prime which may act as a cohesive force.Initially the college was started with Pre-University. In the year 1991 the college was upgraded to degree level and in the same year the Government of Meghalaya extended Ad-hoc grant-in-aid to this college.

Computer Laboratory
Considering today's need for computerization, our College is proud to have all the infrastructure facilities in certain faculties such as Commerce, Geography and Mathematics. These departments have their own computer laboratories with modern equipment and necessary software (Microsoft Office, Mathematica, Matlab, Latex, C++ software, etc.) to meet the needs of students. In addition, the library also has an e resource center, which provides access to e resources among other things.
Library
Shahid Bhagat Singh College has a fully computerized barcode library. The library has a computer lending system with barcodes. We have two computers dedicated to OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) book searches. This collection is enriched by his over 86,796 books on various research fields. The library also subscribes to over 100 of his periodicals in various fields (national and international, specifically Harvard Business Review, The Economist, etc.). The library also has a small computer lab for accessing electronic resources subscribed to by the College of Delhi through the College's intranet and the Internet. The Library also holds orientation programs from time to time and provides orientation in electronic resources for accessing bibliographic databases and full text databases available through the College's intranet and the INFLIBNET Consortium and Information Literacy Program. Students are encouraged to inquire about various library services with Dr. Puja Anand Gulati, Librarian.
Canteen
The College campus has a spacious and well ventilated canteen building with ample seating, separate from the academic blocks. We provide students and faculty with a variety of snacks, food, tea, coffee, and other beverages at low prices. The canteen committee monitors food quality, care and hygiene. A proposal to renovate the cafeteria was recently approved by the Building Committee and Board of Directors.
Seminar Rooms
The College has two seminar rooms equipped with state of the art equipment. The College organizes seminars, workshops and lectures with the active participation of students and teachers. Prominent scientists and experts from academic and business organizations are invited to interact with students and give lectures.
