Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal is situated at Lamphelpat, Imphal, Manipur. Manipur is one of the States in the northeastern part of the India. Manipur literally meaning “A jeweled land” nestle deep within a lush green corner of North East India. The beauty of which once inspired Mrs. St. Clair Grimwood described it as A Pretty Place more beautiful than many show places of the world”. Shri Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India, paid a fitting tribute by describing it as “Jewel of India”. Regional Institute of Medical Sciences has total area of 300 acres of land and located at about 8 km away from Imphal Airport and 1.5 km away from Imphal city. The Institute came into existence after tireless efforts of a few visionaries and was tenderly nurtured by great protagonists of the time. A 300 bedded General Hospital was inaugurated by Shri Y.B. Chavan, the then Union Home Minister on October 22, 1968. It is still being used as the main hospital block. On May 22, 1972 the foundation stone of the first ever medical college, on the soil of Manipur, having the name of Manipur Medical College was laid by Shri B.K. Nehru, the then Governor of Manipur. The Medical College was established as a joint venture of the North Eastern States. On September 14, 1972, the name of the College was changed to Regional Medical College, Imphal. The College was later renamed as North Eastern Regional Medical College under the management of North Eastern Regional Medical College Society.

I.T Infrastructure : The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students. computers to 30 units & 10 Laptops with the installation of internet facilities of 10 units along-with 3 Inflibnet units.
Cafeteria : The college canteen is opened on all working days and provides catering services on special occasions.
Auditorium : The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars. Two well-equipped Auditorium halls with a seating capacity of about 450 and another 1400 respectively.
Girls Hostel : The College has the facility to accommodate lady students from far and flung areas to the Girl’s Hostel of the RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya, at Pangei which is run by the Same Society. One Women’s Hostel with UGC grant is under construction with a facility of 70 seats at the College Campus with recreational facilities including sports and games, health, and hygiene facilities.
Guest Room/Waiting Room : The college has a guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members.
Medical/Hospital : The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students. one Private Hospital opposite to the College Campus, 2 private Hospitals within zero km, and two Central Medical Colleges within 1-2 km from the College campus more over the college has its own medical consultant Medical Officer.
Parking Facility : The college has a parking space facility for its faculty, staff, and students.
Transport Facility : The college has the transport facility for students and staff.
