Government Dr. Dad. Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar College Dongargaon was established on 03 September 1984 in M.P. The expansion policy of the Government Higher Education Department and on the demand of local public representatives and intellectuals was done with the aim that the students of semi-urban, rural, tribal and backward areas should get the benefits of higher education.In the year of establishment, only 81 students took admission here for whom there was provision for teaching in Hindi, English, Political Science, Economics, Sociology and History subjects under the Faculty of Arts, but due to the continuous efforts of the students, public representatives and college administration, Commerce was established in 1986-87. Graduating classes and in 1997-98 Arrangements for teaching Bachelor of Commerce classes and Political Science (M.A.) in 1997-98 and Faculty of Science and Post Graduate Commerce M.Com in 2005-06. And arrangements for teaching of Post Graduate Hindi (M.A.) were made by the government. In the session 2011-12, M.Sc. Mathematics, B.Com. And B.Sc. Computer Application subject has been started in the classes. This college, which started with 81 students, has achieved the distinction of being an important college of the district with a recorded strength of 753 students in the silver-jubilee year 2009-10. For the overall development of the college, the Government has constituted a Public Participation Management Committee in the college since 1997-98. Since its formation, the committee has been continuously making efforts for the development of the college structure and the best teaching system.

REDCROSS

The Youth Red Cross is the most important constituent of its parent organization “Indian Red Cross” which         was formed in 1863 by Jean Henry Dunant.

It is a group movement organized at the initial stages for students between 18 and 25 years of age within the     college(s).

The  Youth Red Cross Society of the college was established in the year 2011 with the objective of evoking      awareness towards social responsibilities among the youth.

National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Services Organization comprising the Army, Navy andAir Force, engaged in grooming the youth – 'The Leaders ofTomorrow' – into disciplined and patriotic citizens. Apart from the facility of books, study material is available to the college students from the library to participate in various competitions and they also get knowledge about the current activities.

For this purpose, along with the establishment of this college, a library was also established on 03 September 1984. Due to lack of space near the college, the library was started in the form of a small room.
