Why The Centre for Economic and Social Studies?

The Center for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) was built up as a self-ruling body enrolled under the Societies Act in the year 1980, by the State Government. Valuing its job in the advancement of research and preparing, the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) remembered it as a national foundation in the year 1986 and included CESS in its system of establishments for yearly award. The Center has been accepting support awards from the State Government and the ICSSR and undertaking – explicit awards/consultancies from the state government, focal government, Planning Commission, Asian Development Bank, World Bank, IRC, Netherlands, TATA Trust, UNICEF, Ford Foundation, European Union and other International Organizations. The Center for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) has been enrolled under Section 6(1) (an) of the remote Contribution (Regulation) Act 1976 which empowers the Center to acknowledge commitments from the outer organizations for completing examination work. The CESS has additionally been endorsed by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research Ministry of Science and Technology and the Director General of Income Tax (Exemptions), Calcutta under the standard 6 of the Income Tax Rules with the end goal of Section 35 (1) (iii) of the Income Tax Act 1961.
