The origin of B.H. College dates back to january 1964 when Late Jadav Chandra Das,an eminent citizen ,mooted the idea for establishing a college at Howly.Accordingly,a public meeting was held at Howly Chandi Barua Bhawan with Late Abdul Kader Choudhury,(Mouzadar) as President and all those who were present very much appreciated the idea and unanimously decided to establish the college at the earliest.It Was further decided that the leading persons from different communities of Barpeta Road should also be apprised of the necessity of a College and a joint attempt be made for establishment of an 'Ideal College' in this localiy.A general meeting of the representatives of Howly and Barpeta Road was held on 24-05-1964 at 3 p.m. in the premises of G.N.B. Memorial High School,Barpeta Road,under the presidentship of the then chairman of Barpeta Road Municipality Board, Mohanlal Choudhury and it was resolved that -"A College,an ideal college,be established with the co-operative efforts of the people of the Howly and Barpeta Road area for meeting the increasing demand for higher education of the people of this locality."The first general public meeting was held on 12-06-1964 at the G.N.B. Memorial High School premises under the chairmanship of the then S.D.O.(Civil) Barpeta,Kamal Chandra Majumdar,who galvanized the spirit to see the idea realized.Noble thoughts may take time to conceive but little time to deliver.In no time,the intense desire and untiring efforts of founding fathers lit the light of B.H. College initially only with Arts faculty in the year 1966.The selfless devotion & sacrifice of the local people have graduated this institution into a famous college in Assam and now it is standing with glory as their cherished offspring.

The Central Library of N.H. College, named after Late Harendra Nath Sarma, a doyen in the sphere of education, and Late Chakradhar, a generous personality was founded in 1979. At the initial stage, it was managed by Dr. P.C. Goswami with N.Das and H.N.Sarma as assistants. It has an intact 2000 titles. At present, the Central Library is in a flourishing state with an intact about 14,000 titles, Textbooks, References, Theses, Encylopedia, Magazines, Journals, and newspapers.

Placements are very nice. Being one of the best and well known college in all of Assam, the students who pass from here are always in great demand. Specially in teaching line. Today I am a professor of history in one of the colleges in Assam.
The placement wing is active, companies like wipro, samsung, yamaha &Microsoft come here to hire students. The seniors helped us a lot in GDs, workshops, interview cracking skills, &personality development too for that matter.
No placements and what do thing should bcom students be placed. They get a very low package and after b.com 90% students don't opt for jobs so everybody needs to do a master degree so placements are not require if the college gives then i am not aware of the fact.
Our college provides with best job placements guaranteed provide if we perform well in our course. We have end number of options for job availability but for getting a better job we do need good marks.
Its good not very good but average. Basically it is an academic course so all try some professional course along with it so no need of placement.
