Lakhimpur Commerce College was established on 4th September, 1972 with the objective of imparting value education to provide universal access to quality education. The college is the precursor in imparting commerce education in the District of Lakhimpur, Assam and the Arts Stream was introduced in the year 1993. The college is permanently affiliated to Dibrugarh University, Assam. The college has two campuses - the main campus located in the heart of town and the second campus at Chukulibhoria with an area of approximately 25 bighas. The college provides various certificates, diploma, degree and post graduate courses through various distance modes like The Directorate of Distance and Open Learning, Indira Gandhi National Open University and Krishna Kanta Handique Sate Open University.

The college has a dedicated Career Counselling Cell which is mostly responsible with guiding the brilliant of minds of the college and is integrated with most well-reputed career counsellors. The college also hosts multiple seminars, mock interviews, soft skills, communicative English, phonetic exercises, personality development, alumni interaction events and mock interviews to help students learn and understand their way to success and prepare for interview selections of companies and also to gain insights regarding companies and job life from the alumni placed in some of the well-known companies. The cell is also well-equipped with latest various sources of study materials like competitive books, magazines and newspapers.Recruitment cell of the college provides personality development training, communication skills training, and aptitude test training to the students to make them job ready. However, during campus placement job offers of round 2 to 2.3 LPA are offered and for good opportunities one has to make efforts on their own. Internships or on the job training are not a part of our course curriculum.
